De projecten De Zeereis (Het Scheepvaartmuseum) en Stad van Nederland (Nederlands Architectuurinstituut) zijn beiden Finalist geworden bij de International Design and Excellence Awards! Deze internationale wedstrijd erkent uitmuntendheid rond het ontwerpen van producten, ecodesign, interactieve design, verpakkingen, strategie, onderzoek en concepten. Helaas geen goud, zilver of brons maar internationale erkenning door bij de laatsten te eindigen in de categorie Environments.

Op 14 en 15 april hebben 11 gezinnen namens de ANWB de Floriade getest. In het verslag werden ook 2 paviljoens van tinker genoemd:

Tip: Rabo Earthwalk “een wereldattractie die je gezien moet hebben”.

Tip: “Nederland Bloeit met een lopende band waarop talloze producten voorbij komen, zoals citroenbloem, schapenwol, bloemen en kaasblokjes. Via een telefoonhoorn krijg je informatie over het product dat je van de lopenband oppakt.”

Erg leuk om te zien dat de paviljoens in de praktijk net zo worden ervaren als wij ze voor ogen hadden!

Afgelopen zaterdag beleefde de Bandritzer zijn try-out tijdens het bevrijdingsfestival in Wageningen. Tinker bedacht en ontwierp deze tijdmachine die je middels diverse fragmenten de militaire geschiedenis van Gelderland laat beleven. Van 18 mei t/m 21 oktober zal de Bandritzer tijden het festival Gelegerd in Gelderland op diverse lokaties te zien zijn.

Wendy en Stan hebben afgelopen maandag de MUSE-award opgehaald in Minneapolis. Deze prijs is een erkenning voor een uitstekende prestatie rond het gebruik van media in een museum. Uit het juryrapport:

Tinker Imagineers’ installation Reset the Future, created for the University Museum Utrecht, struck the panel as a fun and collaborative way to learn about the science behind the effects that our decisions have on the environment. Engaging playful graphics, and the vocabulary of a multiplayer online environment, the exhibition allows visitors to collectively construct their future. Participants create an “avatar” and proceed through a series of kiosks, each of which asks them to make a series of decisions from the perspective of producers and consumers. They are given feedback on the consequences immediately at each kiosk, but more impressively in an immersive space called the “Futurama” which uses simple swipe card technology to show them the future that their avatars have collectively built. Best of all, if visitors are not happy with what they see in the “Futurama” they can go back through the kiosks to make a new series of decisions, thereby “resetting” their avatar’s future. The exhibition does a great job of adopting popular vocabularies of interactive technology in service of communicating information about climate change and the environment. It also invites participants into further dialogue by allowing them to iterate their decision-making processes, and encouraging them to email friends with their findings.
