from a heated debate about dutch identity
to a blueprint for a national historical museum
A new National Historical Museum: in a country with 16 million opinions, that naturally gives rise to heated debates. Should it provide an impression of the multicultural society? Or rather our pride of the Netherlands? Should history be presented on a grand or small scale? An experience, or an institute? And for whom is it intended in any case? Many questions, demanding a clear direction, supported by consensus.
Tinker won the pitch for the development of the concept for this NHM, and created a project lab in which this direction could slowly but surely take form. We held sessions over a period of three months with historians, museum directors, educational experts and media specialists. Based on the conclusions of these we developed ten scenarios. Together with the wide range of recommendations received, they form the basis for taking the concept development process further.
