create a permanent tourist attraction in the latin school as part of rembrandt year 2006
a multimedia theatre about the daydreams of the young painter
Leiden would like to present itself both nationally and internationally as the city of the young Rembrandt. The Latin School represents an excellent vehicle in this respect to establish Leiden as a tourist destination. One of the classrooms where he was taught as a child would be developed into an attraction for the visiting public.
A classroom in the old school was transformed into a theatre so that visitors could follow the spectacle from the street outside. Scenery, light and audio-video technology combine to convey the atmosphere of a class at the beginning of the Golden Age. Visitors find themselves in the dream world of Rembrandt the schoolboy. They see and hear how the Latin School inspired him to fantasize about his future paintings. Completed in the autumn of 2004.
