our building looks good, but it lacks a recognizable identity
now audiovisual media carry news into and out of the fcj
From the outside, for example, you couldn’t see which faculty it was. Not too appropriate for an education in communication and journalism. Inside, there was a dire need for a meeting place in the central hall. Moreover there were no channels to display information and media products. Tinker, do something about it!
The first thing people see now is a building-wide illuminated news trailer. Below the headlines from breaking news stories, your attention is drawn to a flashing neon arrow above the entrance. Images describing the various courses are shown on glass projection screens there. A multimedia terrace has been constructed in the central hall, where students can watch every possible TV and internal channel on screens along a huge truss. On the island below they can zapp, chat, plug their laptops into the network or load their mobiles. For major faculty or news events, a ‘live newsroom’ is at their disposal.
