how do we turn the Netherlands’ biggest building site into a special meeting place?
the zuidas lobby: presentations, lunch, art and a view among the cranes
In an area on either side of Amsterdam’s south circular road called Zuidas, the largest building project in the Netherlands is currently being realized. The best-known architects, project developers and visionaries are working together to create a whole new part of Amsterdam. But what will it soon look like? Can I have a look behind the scenes? How can we provide a taste of the art and culture policy? And where can I get a sandwich in all this chaos?
Tinker was asked to develop a concept that would address all these challenges under one roof.
A place for people and visions, architecture and art, hard workers and lovers, lunch and dinner for people of all ages. This ‘club’ puts the accent on architecture with a small ‘a’, and has a temporary character. What’s more, it travels in the company of the work going on around it. When the first excavations begin the lobby arrives, and when the last brick is laid, it leaves again. Then it will be moved 700 metres away to a new location, with a new élan. And so a special meeting place is created for everyone involved in the development and use of the area.
