the cannenburch
revealed
It was a public secret: the beauty of the Cannenburch, a centuries-old castle in the Veluwe. But much of its beauty was hidden from the general public. Buildings were closed up and stories remained untold. What was the relationship between the castle, the nearby buildings and the park? Tinkers’ assignment: develop a new public presentation that shows the history and the connection with its surroundings.
Whoever now visits the Cannenburch is given a guided tour by various historical figures. The Lord of the Castle, his lady, the bailiff, the gardener and the miller all take the visitors on an audio tour of the park and castle. In the ‘bouwhuis’ (one of the buildings alongside the central entranceway to the castle), a new heritage centre has been opened in which the various rooms tell their own stories. In the castle itself, the remarkable interior has hardly been altered, although the portraits now talk to the visitors. And what are the nobleman and the maid getting up to in the attic? If you want to know, come and find out for yourself.
